Tape to Tape

I have one rule, and only one man has ever heard it: I don’t date a player I tape.

He’s also the man whose ankles I tape every morning at six.

Cody Radek is the loudest rookie in the Westlake Voyageurs’ locker room. He says good morning to the Zamboni. He says yes to every interview the team books for him. He has not forgotten that I turned him down last October.

I want exactly one thing this season: my boss’s job when he retires in the spring.

So when Cody asks if he’s allowed to ask, I set the terms myself.

Mondays. Once. I’ll say no. He stops when I say stop.

He asks every Monday.
