Blue, widowed and in mourning, returns to Magnolia Bluff, Texas, when her grandmother bequeaths the family lake house to her, giving her hope that cherished childhood memories there will help soften her grief.

The home she remembers badly needs a makeover, so she throws herself into the job. Generations of ancestors have left their mark on the house, and Blue is determined to make it hers.

A new friend, old friends, and relatives cheer her on and bolster her bruised spirits, but then an inconvenient body in the back forty throws her smack dab into a family mystery.

With her land and reputation under scrutiny and suspicion by local authorities, and her bank balance dwindling due to the home’s rehab, she wonders if returning home was a mistake.

However, Blue’s Texan roots run deep, so it’s time for her to pull on her big girl boots.
