Welcome to Granite Cove, a remote Michigan town where the population quietly doubles every November, and where wildlife photographer Jeff Koehler is about to stumble into the case of his life.

When a local citizen fails to return from a day out in the woods, the town assumes the worst kind of accident. The medical examiner rules it a death by natural causes. Jeff isn’t so sure, and neither is Dr. Carrie Cunningham, the town’s new doctor, whose sharp instincts and growing pull on Jeff make it hard for him to walk away from either the case or her.

As Jeff digs deeper, he finds a town full of secrets and a suspect list that keeps growing. The sheriff’s investigation is going nowhere, but just when Jeff hits a dead end, a break in the case reveals something far more sinister than anyone imagined, something that has to be stopped before it happens again.
