The Jewish Bride

Stories and poems of love, survival, and life after the Holocaust.

An anthropologist who studies the Amazon headhunters chooses an unorthodox method of coping with his dwindling career; a once un-attractive physical therapist reunited, in a most surprising and intimate way, with a wounded soldier who humiliated her in high school; and in the titular story, two newlyweds recount the happiest day of their lives in the foreboding shadow of the Holocaust.

Moshe Sonnheim’s The Jewish Bride is a multifaceted collection of stories, poems, and memoirs that explores the profound impact of the Holocaust on personal and collective identity. Weaving between fact and fiction, Sonnheim’s singular collection both pays tribute to the past and turns a hopeful, watchful eye to the future.
