The Duke Who Hated Christmas

“He has not kept Christmas since the winter he was nine. She has never once let one go unkept.”

Miles Aylward, Duke of Weyburn, spends every December the same way, in a shut house under Holland covers with no greenery past the door. Then a letter arrives in his dead mother’s hand, calling him north to a house he has never seen, where something of hers is still waiting for him.

Emmeline Prowse has kept Wintersett warm for seventeen winters. The woman who raised her is gone, the house belongs to a duke who means to sell it, and by spring she must carry nine boxes and four gowns out of the only home she has ever known, with nowhere to go.
