Strawman Made Steel

Steel don’t feel? Who said that? It’s B.S.. It feels, all right. But it sharpens too.

Poisoned, bleeding, and eight minutes from death, P.I. Janus McIlwraith falls through a mirror into a Manhattan hospital restroom. It’s just another day on the streets of a post-electric New York that will probably kill him. But what choice does he have? The day he stepped through a mirror and traveled two-and-a-half centuries into the future is the day his wife disappeared, and he has to believe she’s still alive.

In the meantime there’s no end of cases for a down-at-heel detective. And when the youngest son of the Speigh dynasty is found murdered in a dumpster behind the Miracle Hotel, his mother hires Janus to find the killer. As Janus digs deeper, the murder count rises, and every lead runs back to the Strawman, a crime boss the city believes doesn’t exist.
