Jacaranda Dunne, known to everyone as JD, is an ex-Metropolitan police officer who has moved to Málaga to open a detective agency. After the chaos of London, life on the Costa del Sol feels painfully ordinary: missing dogs, stolen passports, and cheating husbands.

Then a desperate woman arrives at her office clutching a photograph of her daughter, Sophie.

The previous summer, Sophie and her best friend Julie vanished without a trace. Despite a major police investigation, neither girl was ever found. Now Julie’s body has turned up in Málaga, but the police have closed the case.
