Murderer From Moscow

Kim Barbieri never learned to leave a good story alone. It is her greatest professional strength and, all too often, her most spectacular personal liability.

She arrives in Moscow with a recorder, a briefcase full of damning documents, and the bone-deep confidence of a woman who has faced down violent men her entire career.

She is an investigative reporter pulling threads that connect Russian oligarchs, dirty Manhattan real estate, billions in laundered money and organized crime fronts. The story is messy, her editor is exacting, and the men behind the money have a long history of making inconvenient problems disappear. This time, they want the story killed, and her killed with it.

Barbieri is not worried. She has covered hundreds of homicides in New York City. She knows what dangerous looks like. But when a source turns up dead the morning after they speak, she understands with cold clarity that this time, dangerous is looking back. Right at her.
