In a post-apocalyptic Earth still reeling from the Sudden War, Nestor Grey, disillusioned former agent of the Far Agency, stumbles upon a child with no name and a terrible power: the ability to wield Mindfire. But great power brings great danger, and unknown forces are hot on their heels, determined to capture the child and use his abilities for their own sinister purposes.

As Nestor and the boy race to uncover the truth behind the child’s past, they find themselves embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, hunted by enemies both seen and unseen. In a world wracked by bio-terror, political oppression, and the increasingly-powerful Aether, the stakes have never been higher.
