Cattle money and freight routes keep the frontier town alive, but true power rests with Caleb Horne. A wealthy rancher with armed riders at his command, Horne controls land, law, and guns. No one challenges him. Those who do don’t last.

Isaiah Cole keeps his head down. A Black laborer on the edge of Red Willow town, he works honest jobs and raises his young daughter, Ruth, teaching her that decency still matters.

Until men tied to Horne take her.
