Bertha Langston, better known as Bert, is no ordinary mail-order bride. With her heart set on adventure and her head lost in the clouds, she’d rather be flying hot-air balloons than sewing a wedding dress. Sadly, ballooning doesn’t pay the bills, and poverty is nipping at her heels. To make matters worse, she gets misrouted to the wrong town during her journey west.

Kane Jameson, a hardworking innkeeper, plans to leave Cedar Falls behind the second he’s saved enough for his big travel plans. The last thing he needs in his life is a woman who’s more firecracker than proper lady. Then Bert crashes a town picnic, utterly enchanting him in a debate about air travel.
