Echoes Of Vienna: The Long Silence

Vienna, 1937. A father rests his hand on his son’s shoulder. A mother smiles softly beside her daughters. The youngest child grins at the camera, his shoes polished for the occasion. Behind them, grandparents stand with quiet dignity. They are ordinary people-a doctor, a nurse, children who love music, books, and feeding birds on windowsills. They have no idea what is coming.

Within three years, that family will be scattered across Europe. Some will be forced into ghettos where starvation becomes routine. Others will be packed into cattle cars and transported to death camps whose names will become synonymous with unimaginable horror. A fifteen-year-old boy will flee alone into the darkness, carrying nothing but a photograph and the weight of survival.
