A trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains? Doodle’s ready. New smells, new places to walk, hanging out with Molly and boss. Seeing Molly’s grandparents, who always give him extra treats, and meeting Molly’s Uncle Armando who owns a Mexican restaurant. All those tacos and burritos! What could go wrong?

Pretty much everything. Molly’s best friend is trapped, her father joined a cult and won’t let her see anyone. When Molly tries to help, she and Doodle end up lost in the woods. Even worse, they get separated and Doodle falls into the hands of dog thieves who think they can sell a labradoodle for quick cash.

Frantic to get back to Molly and the boss, Doodle finds help in unexpected places. And learns that home isn’t where you’re from. It’s who comes looking for you.
