Garrett Vane has a letter of acceptance to the Valorian Academy, three gold coins toward a two-hundred-gold enrollment fee, and a dwarf he didn’t ask for who has decided the life debt he owes belongs to Garrett now.
The dwarf is non-negotiable. The Academy fees require contracts. The contracts require a party. The party requires an archer, which is how Senna Ashveil, precise, private, and working from a contract that says three months minimum, ends up walking east toward an abandoned dwarven mine.
The mine has goblins. The goblins are manageable.
The nest in the lower level is something else entirely.
