In the 2060s, AI soldierbots do most of the dying. A shrinking cadre of human officers still bear the burden of leading them. Paul Owens and Kata Vukovic are the best of that cadre, battle-tested, augmented, and chosen to command the Ōkami: a new generation of soldierbots capable of forging neural links with their human leaders.

What begins as a classified military program becomes something no algorithm predicted. The Ōkami don’t just execute orders. They adapt. They protect. They bond. And in the lawless killing grounds of the Southern Cone, where a Chinese-sponsored warlord is pushing them toward the breaking point, that bond will be the only thing standing between Paul’s unit and annihilation.
