Tequila Midnight

A twisty women’s detective novel of border secrets and buried family sins…

Jessica Watts isn’t a detective. She’s not licensed, not trained, and not sober most nights, but she knows the U.S./Mexico border better than anyone with a badge, and that’s the only qualification Ruben Velasco cares about when his daughter goes missing.

Doraliz Velasco spent two years at Harvard studying the women who vanish along the U.S./Mexico border. Then she came home to Juárez to work for her father, and disappeared just like the women in her thesis.

Jessica follows the trail from the desert towns she knows by heart to Boston, then into the tangled edges of Central America, chasing a woman whose glossy Instagram parties don’t match the poverty bleeding in at the edges of every photo. Every lead pulls Jessica deeper into a complex web of suspense and secrets where trusting the wrong person can be deadly.

The one person keeping Jessica tethered to anything good is Angus, her closest friend since childhood, sometimes more, and the only man who still believes there’s something under the wreckage worth loving. Jessica knows this case holds the key, to Doraliz, to Angus, and to the dark secrets of her own past.
