Florida Girls

She wanted a simple life, something mafia-free. Florida’s biggest crime boss made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.

St. Petersburg, Florida, 1944. Orphaned, broke, and fiercely alert to injustice, eighteen-year-old Thelma Miles lands a coveted spot on the national Florida Girls war bond tour selling sunshine, glamour, and optimism as the war winds down. She thinks she’s escaped her criminal past.

She hasn’t.

The tour is a front. The mafia is watching. And her new boss, social-climbing Kathleen Young, is more than happy to throw Thelma into the fire if it helps her save her family’s business and get her ailing husband out of Florida’s harsh climate. That means keeping the girls in line and their criminal backers happy.
