Mother Ink

What if the only way to save a doomed city… was to destroy everything you believed in?

Seventeen-year-old Lono has spent her entire life training to become a Sister at the Observatory, keeper of the mother ink, the sacred substance of We Honua, the great octopus who dreams reality itself. The ink cannot write untruth. It gives visions. And for as long as Lono can remember, it has shown her a stranger’s face: a young man in a vineyard, in a crowded market, in dreams she can’t explain.

On the day of her ascension ceremony, a voice tears through her mind and casts her out beyond the Observatory walls. She follows it to a dying boy clutching a strange key.
