Looking for Dei

Magic is drawn from life. Stored in bone. Unlocked by runes.

In the impoverished fishing village of Dimmitt, magic means survival. One gifted child could rescue a family from hunger, or be claimed as a weapon for the crown.

Fifteen-year-old Nara has never been announced as gifted. She shouldn’t possess magic at all. Yet she sees the light within living things, breathes power into ancient runes, and carries not one gift, but many.

When Nara learns why Dimmitt’s sacred blade has failed to reveal a gifted child for decades, she secretly imbues it, determined to give her village hope.

The ceremony turns deadly.
