Some places earn their names.

Far-forager Logan D’arro picks the bones of a world that cut its own throat a long time before he was born. He asks only for fair trade and an open horizon, surviving on grit, instinct, and the knowledge that the past wants to stay buried. When called to defend the Four Territories, he is oath-bound to answer, and something buried answers back.

Instead of an outpost, Logan finds a tomb, the troopers he was meant to fight beside slaughtered and unmade by something the old stories call myth. The dead disagree.

He’s seen enough to know he should turn back. Instead, joined by a squad of hardened troopers, Logan follows the trail toward Phantom Wells, where nothing stays buried and the line between flesh and machine blurs. Something is stirring, older than the Harvest War, wider than any map he’s ever read.
