When the War is Over

The war was already lost, but no one was allowed to stop fighting.

Germany, 1945: The Red Army is closing in on Silesia, and the regime is running out of soldiers.

Anton Köhler is a watchmaker’s apprentice. He is fifteen, in love with the girl next door, sole breadwinner for his seven siblings. Then the regime comes for the Hitler Youth boys of his town. Including Anton and his best friend Gerhard.

As they are drilled, marched, and pushed toward a front that no longer exists, Anton makes himself two promises. To survive this war with his conscience intact, and to bring Gerhard home alongside him, because he can’t bear to lose anyone again.
