Don’t Say A Word

There’s a dead man in my freezer.

My sixteen-year-old stepdaughter, Holly, killed him. He was her father, my husband, a man who was charming to the world but a monster behind closed doors.

I know I should call the police. But I’ve already lost my sister to a violent man, and I won’t let the system take Holly too. I panic. I wrap Max in a tarpaulin and hide him in the garage. Now I just need to make him disappear before his office starts asking questions.

Then comes a knock at the door.
