A skeleton in the wall wasn’t part of Ellie Ward’s plans. Her Tuesday had started normally enough: shelve books, help patrons, and ignore the cat scratching at the basement wall. Then the wall came down.

The bones belong to Silas Vance, the architect who designed the Ashwood Library, then vanished in 1925 along with fifty thousand dollars in construction funds. Everyone assumed he ran. He didn’t get far.

Now someone wants the library demolished. Urgently. Preferably before anyone starts asking the right questions. With seven days until the wrecking ball arrives, Ellie is racing to uncover a century-old truth. The problem is that the only witnesses to what actually happened in 1925 have been dead for decades.
