Elian never wanted to be a leader. He’s just a quiet, ordinary adopted boy from a small family, lacking the courage or skills to lead. But when an apocalyptic blaze unleashes blood and fire, he is chosen by God to be His witness and to turn the people to Christ.

Tirzah’s streets have become ovens, and citizens have turned on each other. Survival is now a choice between fear and faith in a city that worships indulgent comfort, excessive commerce, and nonexistent gods. Soldiers under the centurion Marcus exert control over the city and beat, imprison, and assault anyone who threatens their power and spreads the truth about God and Jesus. Families take and steal from each other out of hunger, thirst, and the instinct to survive.
