The World Ender

George Greycloud Guess was comfortable with numbers… not people. To him, everything was an equation, a calculation of risk and reward. He’d made the calculation, but it still took every ounce of courage to tell the U.N. about his invention—a device that tapped into the free-flowing energy of the universe. He believed it could end the global energy crisis overnight. That was the day he met Rebecca, the woman who somehow gave him the kind of strength and confidence he had never known before.

Then came the news… an asteroid… headed for Earth…

In fifteen years, billions of people would die in the aftermath. The world needed his invention. If only he could make his theory reality… if only he had enough time… if only he hadn’t discovered something that threatened to unravel the U.N.’s plans. They had given the world three options, to relocate the entire human population into the safety of the domes, to destroy the asteroid before it reached Earth, or to move a select few to colonies established on the moon and Mars.
