At Journey’s End

Jonah Mercer came home from war carrying scars no one could see, and a heart still tied to the woman who never answered his letters.

When he rides into Sarah Marlowe’s homestead, he finds only smoke and flame. He drags Sarah and her young son from the flames. Her husband does not walk out with them.

With winter closing in and nothing left but ash, they join a wagon train bound for Colorado Territory. Jonah tells himself he is only seeing them safely west.
