Harry Patterson is digging a hole in his backyard, a hole large enough to hold a body, when he is spooked by a man in a white robe who accidentally shoves him in.

Lying twisted at the bottom in the pouring rain, the wet mud inexorably sliding in, Harry is acutely aware he is at risk of being buried alive. If this wasn’t bad enough, his future self drops by to splash water in his face and insult him on a personal level, before career criminal, Barton Plyaedes, and his pay-as-you-go crew, kidnap Harry and whisk him off unconscious, half across the universe.
