A dog. Hired to drop off the ransom payment for a stolen dog. I thought my life as a fledgling PI couldn’t get much worse. Shows how much I knew.

Because then the dognapper got killed, and the cops figured I was the one who pulled the trigger. Turned out my client had lied to me. Turned out she was in danger too.

So now I had no choice but to investigate. Which meant dealing with both the stinking rich and those who simply stank, not to mention two separate sets of thugs, one of them with a tempting breakfast offer and the other with a surprising taste for the songs of Taylor Swift.
