Constable Morven MacLeod is a veteran officer who knows her patch like the back of her hand. But the modern police service is different to the one she joined and Morven needs a change. After discovering the body of a librarian, she joins CID where she’s partnered with Dave Newton, a detective she despises.

When another corpse turns up with the same distinctive signature, Morven and Dave soon realise they are hunting for a dangerous serial killer. But Morven’s theory about what connects the victims is deemed too politically toxic to pursue. It’s the same issue that sees Kerry Connelly hounded from her university position because of her views, and thrust into Morven’s world.
